Rhianna Debrayanna, RMT
Rhianna's approach to massage reflects both her background and her approach to life; a blend of science, spirituality, and art.
She grew up between California and the Okanagan, and has become enamored with the coastal mountain ranges of BC. While in California, she attended an outdoors boarding school and received scholarships within the theatre and arts programs. Nevertheless, sciences and athletics were her passion, and she went on to pursue medical school and received scholarships for running. At the collegiate level, she raced for the women's cross country team at UBC while studying kinesiology. During this time, an overuse injury granted her access to UBC's incredible sports doctors, physiotherapists and RMT's. She was awed by the therapeutic effectiveness of massage and delved into the healing arts. She attended the Vancouver School of the Healing Arts in 2014, wherein she was introduced to an abundance of cultural approaches to healing. She learned about Ayurveda and Indian head massage, Shiatsu and reflexology, hot stone massage and hydrotherapy, as well as the incredible importance of the mind-body connection. Wanting to ground her holistic view of massage with a scientific foundation, she undertook more schooling at the Vancouver College of Massage Therapy and graduated in 2017 as an RMT. Massage, to Rhianna, is a beautiful and therapeutic art form, made more fascinating by her individualized approach to each client. Her treatment style blends therapeutic techniques such as myofascial release, trigger point therapy, neuromuscular technique, joint mobilizations, breathwork, and swedish massage to deliver a treatment that is both effective and relaxing. She loves the joyful freedom that comes from feeling physically able, strong, and flexible in one's body. She is equally enamored with increasing body awareness and strengthening the mind-body connection through massage. She aims to co-create this experience with all of her clients. Outside of her massage life, she holds a certification in Pilates and practices meditation, qi gong, and yoga. She is an avid writer, and is hopelessly obsessed with running and all things mountain related. She loves to dance. Rhianna is available: Saturday, Sunday, and Monday. |
