SYSTEMIC DEEP TISSUE THERAPY®

Developed over a period of twenty five years by Armand Ayaltin DNM, RHP, RMT, Systemic Deep Tissue Therapy ® (SDTT) is a different approach to massage therapy;

  • Addresses acute and chronic conditions
  • Treats the underlying cause of musculo-skeletal related pain and dysfunction, often with lasting results
  • Structurally realigns the body by manipulating the fascial-muscle-joint systems
  • Increases body awareness and vitality
  • Maintains good health
  • Helps prevent illness and injury.
  • SYSTEMIC

  • SDTT is the identification and treatment of "systemic" structural misalignments
  • Musculo-skeletal structural deviations and subsequent compensations develop mainly as a result of postural response to occupational, social and emotional matters
  • Once in place, these compensations become a system of restrictions on the body’s ability to perform at its best and it is in these accommodations that pain resides
  • Within SDTT the body is viewed as an interconnected unit of layers and dimensions and it is believed that, within its boundaries, an aligned and compensation free structure will enable optimal function
  • Correcting the structural compensations, favourably influences crucial body systems and improves their communications; e.g. skin, fascia, muscles, nerves, blood, lymph, bones, joints, organs and meridians.
  • DEEP TISSUE

  • The SDTT techniques allow the practitioner to access the level of dysfunctional tissue. Deep is a relative term and must not be confused with high pressure. ‘Optimal therapeutic pressure’ relies on patient feedback.
  • THERAPY

  • From a natural medicine perspective, therapy is a dynamic process that coaxes the body into healing itself; it will work for and with the body
  • Natural therapies subscribe to the vitalistic principle of life, meaning, a biological system is equipped with a life-sustaining energy and an inherent capability for healing itself
  • Disease is regarded as an obstruction in the process of efficient physiological function
  • A body’s obstacles to health can be related to the physical/structural, bio-chemical, mental, emotional and spiritual conditions of an individual. SDTT deals with those related to the physical/structural.
  • HOW DOES SYSTEMIC DEEP TISSUE THERAPY® DIFFER? SDTT is philosophically different in its approach and application from most other manual therapies. It has its own assessment and treatment procedures, with a wide variety of techniques to tackle almost any condition.

ASSESSMENT The assessment procedure looks at the structural picture of the entire body. It is designed to map the initial structural deviation and resulting compensation points, which are believed to underlie and condition the patients’ symptoms. Assessment is continuous, as the body responds to treatment and reveals deeper layers or dimensions of dysfunction. Consequently, the practitioner is able to keep up to date with a patient's progress and tailor the treatment accordingly.

TREATMENT The key compensation sites are addressed during each treatment. In doing so, SDTT targets the underlying cause of symptoms and not the symptoms themselves. Over a period of time, the therapist will strive to unravel the puzzle of muscle related structural pain and discomfort.

AFTER EFFECTS During the healing process, some discomfort and after-effects might be experienced. For example; headaches, feeling lightheaded, tiredness, soreness, new pain in unrelated areas, swelling, bruising, emotional reactions, etc. Manual therapy is most effective in conjunction with other possible natural therapies which deal with; nutrition, hydration, gentle exercise, rest and relaxation.
